On August 1, Tucson’s local rap scene took over Solar Culture for a seven-artist showcase hosted and DJ’d by DRiViN U BaTTy. GFadeOs, Quice2Faded, Shea, Tsnooze, Young $JB, 1027Kas, and Friito each brought their own sound and energy into the same downtown room.

Seven Artists, Seven Different Sets

The night moved through seven performances without every set feeling the same. Each artist had their own presence, their own crowd response, and their own way of using the room. That variety is what made the showcase worth documenting: one event gave a look at several different corners of Tucson’s rap community at once.

DRiViN U BaTTy Behind the Night

DRiViN U BaTTy hosted and DJ’d the showcase, keeping the transitions moving between performers and giving the night a consistent center while the artists changed onstage.

Inside Solar Culture

Solar Culture gave the showcase an intimate setting where the performers, crowd, and people working the event were all close to the action. It felt local because it was local: Tucson artists sharing a Tucson room with the people who came out to hear them.

Documenting the Local Noise

TEMP° was there to document the night through photo and video, preserving the performances and the people behind them as part of Tucson’s growing local music archive. These are the kinds of nights TEMP° exists to cover—not just the biggest stages, but the rooms where Arizona artists are actively building their scene.
