Pushing Pluto Lands at 414 Pub & Pizza

On August 7, Pushing Pluto brought a decade-old project into the tight quarters of 414 Pub & Pizza in Mesa. The setting put the band’s songs close to the room, with little distance between the players and the people watching.
Pushing Pluto began with vocalist-guitarist Nick Tangen in 2015. He is joined by Eric Haskins on bass, Maddox Hallums on lead guitar, and Greg Golucci on drums.
The lineup is straightforward on paper, but each role stays legible: Tangen anchors the songs with vocals and guitar, Haskins locks down the bass, Hallums cuts through on lead guitar, and Golucci drives from the kit. The result sits between indie, alternative, and classic rock without forcing a cleaner label.
The set drew from a catalog that now spans the album Hush, the singles “One More Drink” and “Lost,” and the 2026 release “Brighter.” That timeline matters: Pushing Pluto is not returning as a nostalgia project; the band is still adding new material to the story.
414 Pub & Pizza kept the performance close. With little separation between band and room, the Mesa stop read less like a formal stage presentation and more like the kind of independent-rock set where the songs have to hold up at arm’s length.
More than ten years after Tangen started the project, Pushing Pluto is still writing forward. The August 7 set did not need a manufactured comeback story; it showed a working band with a current lineup, current songs, and another room to win.
